The Chocolate Lovers’ Christmas is the third book in Carole’s Chocolate Lovers’ Club series but if you haven’t read any of the other books that precede it you won’t really miss out too much. Carole does such a great job of creating her characters that it is easy to pick up on who everyone is and their roles within the group.
Lucy is now managing Chocolate Heaven and while she is having the time of her life, the job is taking up all of her time. Boyfriend Aiden is starting to become a ship that passes in the night and she is distracted by her ex-fiancé turning up with ulterior motives.
Nadia is coping after the death of her husband but finds it hard to get close to a man again. Her friendship with Jacob looks like it could develop into something more and she has to deal with the fallout from that.
Chantal is a new Mum. Baby Lana came along just as she and husband Ted were about to go their separate ways. Trying to rebuild their marriage and the trust is proving more difficult than she expected. It is especially difficult when Ted’s other family become an active part of their lives.
Autumn is dealing with the death of her brother. He was a troubled soul with substance abuse issues and she is getting very little support from her fiancé who works with drug addicts. She is trying her best to keep the relationship going but it is becoming more of a struggle.
You are never going to get high literature from one of Carole’s books but what you do get is a great story and a bunch of characters that all feel like old friends by the time you get to the end. It is a sweet Christmas story that makes you want to curl up with a mince pie and a frothy cappuccino with Bing Crosby playing in the background! Perfect seasonal Chic Lit.
