This debut novel from Mary Waters-Sayer is full of colour and sensation. A literary novel with depth and substance. Kat is mother to Will and wife to entrepreneur Jonathan. They have a very comfortable life in Kensington, with a large house next to Holland Park. Kat has just lost her mother to cancer and this has unsettled her. Made her think about the past.
When she notices an art exhibition in Mayfair that past comes back to bite her. The next big thing in the art world is Daniel Blake. Her Daniel. The artist she spent her nineteenth year with in Paris. Stepping into the gallery to view the paintings she realises that they are all of her. Although he painted her at the time he has never stopped painting her. It is a shocking revelation, one that will change the course of her life.
Waters-Sayer writes like an artist. Her appreciation for colour and depth is visceral and it pops out at you from the page. The Blue Bath is a most enjoyable debut and a good portent for things to come.

I love sharing my favourite books with friends - nearly always spoiler-free as I hate reading a synopsis of the whole book in other reviews.
