Book Review: Miss Wrong and Mr Right – Robert Bryndza *****

Realistically this book was always going to be on my “to read” pile. Written by one of my favourite writers at the moment Miss Wrong and Mr Right is a real laugh-out-loud romantic comedy set in the theatre world of West End London.

The story opens with Natalie Love standing in a field burning her wedding dress! At the tender age of nineteen she had been about to marry childhood sweetheart Jamie when she had cold feet and fled leaving him standing at the altar. Leaving Devon with her eccentric grandmother for the bright lights of London seems like the perfect solution.

Fast forward fifteen years and Natalie runs a successful theatre in London’s West End. They are about to put on a production of Macbeth with Hollywood heart-throb Ryan Harrison in the leading role.

After years of being unlucky in love Natalie finally thinks that she has found the “one” in yoga guru Benjamin. Blinded to his faults she is always pandering to his needs and wants and fails to see how selfish he is. The scenes with him for just so bad and so funny. Namaste!

When her theatre puts on a big launch event to introduce their leading man to the theatre going public of London, Natalie finds herself attracted to the charismatic Ryan but she isn’t prepared for the biggest sucker punch of all. The abandoned building across the road is being renovated as a pop-up venue and who should be running it but Jamie. Incredibly hot and attractive now, and on the arm of London’s biggest burlesque star. How could she have turned him down?

Reading this on the train saw me getting some very funny looks as I genuinely couldn’t stop laughing at one point. Robert’s previous life as a London actor has stood him in very good stead as he puts together one of the funniest books about the theatre scene in many years. This ticks all the right boxes for anyone interested in London, in the stage and who loves a good old love triangle! Fabulous darling!

I love sharing my favourite books with friends - nearly always spoiler-free as I hate reading a synopsis of the whole book in other reviews.
