Book Review: Mister Bodyguard – Lauren Rowe ***

Mister Bodyguard is the fourth book in the very popular Morgan Brothers series by Lauren Rowe. That said it is perfectly acceptable to treat this title as a standalone read. Zander Shaw is effectively an honorary Morgan having been best friend to Keane Morgan for years. Dumped by the girlfriend that he thought he was going to spend his life with, Zander is looking for something to get him out of his funk. When he finds himself being interviewed at a record label for a tour bodyguard position it could be just what he needs to pull himself together.

Aloha Carmichael is one of Pop’s biggest stars. She’s been in the limelight for most of her short life. Growing up on the set of a Disney series meant that she had to grow up quickly. She’s going to really miss Barry, he’s been her celebrity bodyguard for years but now the record label have tapped him to be the new Head of Security. Going on tour with someone new just isn’t acceptable. She’s going to make the new guy’s life hell so that Barry will relent and take the tour role.

Mister Bodyguard is a fun romp backstage in the pop industry. There is enough chemistry between Aloha and Zander to make it a fun and engaging read. It’s got a bit more to it than your average modern romance and the growing friendship between the two protagonists shows a lot more maturity than you expect from this pair.

I love sharing my favourite books with friends - nearly always spoiler-free as I hate reading a synopsis of the whole book in other reviews.
